Major in Mathematics and Data Science

This specialization aims to train engineers who design mathematical models suitable for the efficient simulation of complex systems. Key points are the overall vision of the chain that leads from observation to product and the detailed understanding of phenomena.
This requires a keen critical sense and constant perspective to ensure the robustness of the approach and the optimization of the solution in technical, economic, and customer satisfaction terms. The mathematical and algorithmic foundations provided to the engineering students in this specialization will lead them to perform very quickly.

This specialization is halfway between mathematics and computer science: the objective is to train "data scientists" who are both precise on the mathematical foundations of the most recent methods of machine learning (statistical models of machine learning, neural models of deep learning) but also capable of efficiently implementing computer solutions involving these methods on a large scale (algorithms optimized in C++, software architecture, GPU, Big Data).
The teaching of this dual "math/info" skill aims to effectively meet the needs of companies to design innovative solutions for the specific valorization of their data, by listening to our partners (Google Research, AXA Data Innovation Lab, Orange Labs, PSA Data Factory, etc.). The training also allows students to prepare for a doctorate and consider an academic career by joining two research masters, one in mathematics, the other in computer science.
