  • On Monday, June 16, a restitution session for the “City of the Future” project, carried out as part of the “Educational Cities” program, was held at CentraleSupélec.

This initiative, in which La Fabrique (FabLab de l'Ecole) has been participating for 2 years with the support of the Centre for Diversity and Inclusion, has enabled more than 500 4th and 5th grade students from the Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois and Saint-Michel-sur-Orge middle schools to experience a true immersion in the world of engineering and the city of tomorrow.

Under the coordination of Alexis Kobassian, Head of La Fabrique, each student was able to spend an afternoon in the workshops of La Fabrique, a space for creativity and experimentation open to the School's students, researchers, and entrepreneurs. They worked on themes related to the city of the future.

    On the program this year:

    • The manufacture of a functional wind turbine,
    • The extension of a collaborative urban model,
    • Programming autonomous robots evolving in a futuristic city.

This restitution of the project was an opportunity to share these achievements with the elected officials, academic directors, school directors and parents of students present, as well as to define the objectives for the next edition.

This project illustrates CentraleSupélec's commitment to democratizing access to science and is fully in line with its commitment to promoting equal opportunity. By reaching out to middle and high school students, the school actively contributes to fostering careers in engineering and strengthening ties between higher education and the local community.
