CentraleSupélec opens a “Computer Science and AI” bachelor’s degree with Birla Institute of Technology and Science in Pilani (India)
This new 100% English-speaking engineering course will welcome students each year who wish to follow a bi-cultural, dual-degree course that meets the highest international standards.
CentraleSupélec has launched the opening in August 2025 of a English-speaking bachelor program in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence in 4 years with the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani), a private institution that ranks among India's most prestigious universities in science and technology. This academic year, around sixty places are open in the “Computer Science & AI” specialization for students from the Pilani and Goa campuses. After two years of study on their campuses in India, they will study on the Paris-Saclay campus in the fall of 2027.
A dual-degree course
The two institutions designed and launched this bachelor's degree program for Indian students seeking a jointly awarded, high-quality, international degree program. The goal is to train professionals with the skills expected by major industry players operating in India, France, or elsewhere in the world, in areas related to strategic sectors or those with strong growth prospects. The students recruited are among the top 2% of the BITS Pilani bachelor's degree admissions competition. The two institutions discuss applications received throughout the process to ensure compliance with the jointly established admission criteria, which are aligned with the very high level of academic standards expected by both institutions.
The first two years are taught on one of the BITS Pilani campuses, then years 3 and 4 take place in France on the Paris-Saclay campus of CentraleSupélec. Upon completion of the program, graduates hold the BITS Pilani Bachelor's degree and the CentraleSupélec Bachelor of Global Engineering, an institutional diploma, and the Licence degree.
For this first academic year, the CentraleSupélec-BITS Pilani bachelor's degree program is offering a specialization in "Computer Science & AI." Other specializations will be added in the coming years: "electronics & telecommunications," "biotechnology," and "mechanical engineering & aerospace and energy" are planned. Ultimately, the bachelor's degree program will welcome up to 200 students.
CentraleSupélec has been developing its relations with India for almost 10 years, whether through the creation of Mahindra Power Station with the Central Schools Group or academic partnerships that the school has established with the largest Indian public universities. BITS Pilani is a private Indian institution of higher education.
Founded in 1964 by industrialist and philanthropist Shri GD Birla, who headed one of India's first industrial conglomerates, it is one of the most renowned universities in the country. It welcomes more than 30,000 students across its five campuses (Pilani, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Goa, and Dubai). Each year, nearly 5,000 new students join the university for a Bachelor of Engineering degree. It recruits from among the top 2,5% of students in its entrance exam, making it one of the most demanding technological universities in the country. About a quarter of India's unicorns were founded by BITS Pilani graduates.
