  • Energy networks play a crucial role in the success of the energy transition. However, their evolution towards more connected, more heterogeneous systems integrating renewable sources highlights growing challenges in terms of management, safety, and performance.

    The 𝐏𝐄𝐏𝐑 “𝐑𝐞́𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐱 𝐞́𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞́𝐭𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐮 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫” PEPR aims to meet these challenges by developing a national research platform on complex energy systems, by federating French skills, both experimental and digital, around a structuring project.

    The visit focused more particularly on the work of the 𝗥𝗲́𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘅 𝗲́𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀 team of GeePs, recognized for its expertise in operation, supervision, protection, techno-economic analysis of AC and DC electrical networks, but also for its technological innovations on power electronic converters and the transport of energy by superconducting cables.

    On this occasion, several devices and platforms were presented, including:

    1️⃣ a platform for 𝗰𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗴𝗲́𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝗲𝘁 𝗱𝗲 𝗰𝗮̂𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀;
    2️⃣ the 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲 𝗜𝗕𝗜𝗦, dedicated to electrochemical storage for mobility applications and stationary storage of renewable energies;
    3️⃣ a 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗰 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲́𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹'𝗲́𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝘀 𝗲́𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀;
    4️⃣ a 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲 𝗛𝗜𝗟 𝗲𝘁 𝗣𝗛𝗜𝗟 for testing fault detection and localization algorithms, and the increasing integration of power electronic converters into electrical networks.

    The minister was accompanied by members of his cabinet (Laure Ménétrier et Noémie Algom), as well as representatives of local authorities, national research organizations and the supervisory bodies of GeePs, including: Yann Cauchetier, mayor of Gif-sur-Yvette, Alexandre Legris, executive director of the Agency for Decarbonized Energy Programs (CEA), Lionel Buchaillot, director of CNRS Engineering, Isabelle Demachy et Mehran Mostafavi (VPs Université Paris-Saclay), Romain Soubeyran, Paul-Henry Cournède (CentraleSupélec), as well as the director of GeePs, ODIC Emmanueland many researchers from the laboratory.
