Sport is at the heart of the School's teaching methods. Sports practice is an integral part of the training to give students the opportunity to exert themselves and develop values ​​specific to sportsmanship that can be useful to them in the professional environment.

Sports culture at CentraleSupélec

At CentraleSupélec, the sports offering is rich and varied so that each student can choose a sport that suits them, strengthen their personal development and thus make their student experience unique.

  • Physical Education and Sports (PE) classes

At CentraleSupélec, PE classes are compulsory for all students. and counts in the same way as science subjects in the grading. Integrated into the timetables, at least 1.5 hours are devoted to sports practice each week. 

Commitment: This course is also a way for CentraleSupélec to combat the sedentary lifestyle of young people.

  • The AS (Sports Association) option: Training to prepare for competitions

This option is open to all students wishing to continue competing in higher education or to become more involved in sports.

All sports require diligence, whether in competition or in PE

  • The BDS (Sports Office)

The CentraleSupélec Sports Office, managed by students, aims to promote the values ​​of sport on campus.It manages the sports infrastructure and the animation of the school's sports life. The BdS also takes care of the management of these AS (Sports Associations) in collaboration with the Sports Department of theÉCole.

  • Sports Associations 

In total, there are 30 sports associations linked to the 24 disciplines taught at CentraleSupélecEach sports association's mission is to manage a specific sport locally. The goal of a sports association is to become the French university champion in its sport.

The Paris-Saclay campus has numerous sports facilities, offering a wide range of more than twenty sports.

Outdoor installations: tennis courts, beach volleyball court, running track, basketball court, ...

Indoor installations: climbing walls, multipurpose gymnasium, weight room, dojo, multipurpose room (dance, fencing, climbing)

At the Saclay Plateau, facilities complete this system: swimming pool, multi-sport university complex.

Sports infrastructure

In total, 12 sports facilities are made available to students under certain conditions. 

4 sports facilities are present on the CentraleSupélec campus in Gif-sur-Yvette: 

  • A 1000 m gymnasium2
  • A 450 m2 multipurpose room
  • A 260 m dojo2
  • A cardio training room

On the Saclay plateau, the OMEGA swimming pool and the COUM complex are spaces accessible to students. In addition, the racket sports complex located in Les Ulis, the Polytechnique swimming pool in Palaiseau, the Racing de Jouy-en-Josas complex, and the Saint-Aubin Golf Course are also facilities available to students. 

Located in a unique setting rich in natural spaces, the Gif-sur-Yvette campus offers its students the opportunity to practice mountain biking in the surrounding forests and rowing on the Marne. 

Supervisory staff 

Around fifty instructors supervise sports activities and teach sports culture to students at CentraleSupélec on the Paris-Saclay campus. Each instructor specializes in one or more disciplines.
 

TOSS: the ultimate university sporting event

Organized each year by the BDS of the Gif Campus, the TOSS is an all-sport tournament. A legacy of Supélec, this tournament has existed since 1989 and originally welcomed 350 participants from schools on the Saclay plateau. Today, schools and universities from all over France participate.

In 2016, the tournament reached a significant milestone by registering a record number of 4500 participants.

The 2025 edition of TOSS brought together 110 schools around 22 sports disciplines, and hosted, for the first time, a disabled sports competition with disabled tennis.
