Frédéric Magoules

Frédéric Magoulès is Full Professor of Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computing at CentraleSupélec, Université Paris-Saclay, France. His research lies at the interface of numerical analysis, scientific computing, scientific machine learning, and high-performance computing, with particular emphasis on scalable parallel and distributed methods for scientific simulation. He develops and analyzes scalable numerical methods for partial differential equations, large-scale algebraic systems, and coupled multiphysics problems, notably through domain decomposition, iterative solvers, and preconditioning techniques, with applications in computational mechanics, computational acoustics, energy systems, and digital twins. For data-driven scientific simulation, he combines numerical solvers and mathematical models with physics-informed approaches. His research leadership includes the Transvalor S.A. Academic Chair in Artificial Intelligence Applied to the Numerical Simulation of Material Forming Processes at CentraleSupélec (Co-Inaugural Holder, 2022–2026) and the SAP Academic Chair in Business Intelligence at École Centrale Paris (Inaugural Holder, 2008–2013). The SAP Chair connected business intelligence with data mining, machine learning, and data-driven computational methods. He has also served as Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator on numerous national, European, and industrial research projects and has directed the Centre of Integrated Engineering for Sustainable Society within the Groupe des Écoles Centrales (2010–2014). His international academic profile includes visiting and honorary professorships at universities in Europe, Asia, and North America. His scholarly output includes more than three hundred scientific publications, including more than one hundred peer-reviewed journal articles. He is also the author or co-author of numerous books and has held editorial responsibilities for international journals and academic book series. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (FIMA, United Kingdom) and of the British Computer Society (FBCS, United Kingdom).
