Bachelor in Global Engineering – CityU Hong Kong joint degree
Ambitious. Innovative. Resolutely future-oriented. These are the terms in which we would like to present our joint Bachelor’s degree program, designed and jointly offered by CentraleSupélec (CS) and City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) - a globally recognized university in Asia.
Through this unique Joint Program, students can immerse themselves in diverse cultures across Europe and Asia, engage in multidisciplinary learning that emphasizes innovation, entrepreneurship, and cross-disciplinary thinking, and cultivate an innovative mindset.
Upon successful completion of the undergraduate curricula of both CentraleSupélec and CityUHK, students earn two bachelor’s degrees — one from each university.
Overview
This program is a direct response to the constant evolution of the engineering profession and the contexts in which engineers operate. Engineering education must evolve in parallel to meet this new reality. Non-traditional engineering—less narrowly technical, broader in scope, and often combined with innovation or entrepreneurship—has become increasingly important.
Engineering problems and systems are becoming more complex and interdisciplinary, as seen with issues such as climate change or the recent pandemic, where engineering plays a crucial role alongside science, medicine, management, law, politics, and economics. There is, therefore, a genuine need to train engineers with knowledge that is both global and international.
For this joint program, students can either start at CityUHK or at CS.
The core teaching provided in years 1 and 2 will be the same on both sides, they develop a strong foundation in:
- Mathematics
- Computer Science
- Fundamental Physical Sciences
In addition, they take complementary courses in:
- Humanities and Social Sciences
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship
- Business and Management
- Arts and Humanities
In the final two years, students choose a specialization depending on their campus. At CityUHK, available majors include:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Aerospace Engineering
- Nuclear and Risk Engineering7
- Computer and Data Engineering
- Electronic and Electrical Engineering
- Information Engineering
- Innovation and Entreprise Engineering
- Materials Science and Engineering
- Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering
At CS, available majors initially include:
- Bioengineering
- Mechanical Engineering (Energy)
- Electrical Engineering
